“Resilient Regeneration: Ecosystems, Bodies & Wellbeing” is a project designed by and for youth workers interested in acquiring knowledge about ecological regeneration, strengthening the bond with nature, and promoting the physical and psycho-emotional health of young people through somatic, artistic resources and other experiential, participatory learning methods typical of non-formal education. It promotes the application of regenerative principles in the conception of health and well-being and develops the capacities for accompaniment and psycho-emotional support of youth workers. It is based on the approach of systemic regeneration, which integrates the concepts of regeneration, resilience, and regulation, and promotes the health and vitality of our societies for a sustainable transformation of all their systems and cultural structures (education, ecology, economy, etc.). “Resilient Regeneration: Ecosystems, Bodies & Wellbeing” has been created to enrich the participating organizations and youth workers with innovative and quality tools that will contribute to the field of youth work and promote sustainable growth, holistic health and social cohesion. After a context analysis, this project aims to address the following needs, identified by our organizations in the field of youth work: - Training with an ecological focus that includes a holistic view of ecosystem health and human health. - Spaces for debate and reflection on the growing eco-anxiety identified among young Europeans, caused by the low expectations for the future of the planet due to the climate crisis. - Review our belief system in relation to nature to generate new, more respectful, and closer ways of relating to ecosystems. - Educational materials and guides that help youth workers contextualize climate challenges and promote the active participation of young people in the regeneration of ecosystems. - Implement training programs for psychological and emotional support, that include somatic and artistic resources, to accompany young people in situations of stress, anxiety and depression. - Create resources and support materials, such as manuals or activity guides, that address topics related to physical and psycho-emotional health, to be integrated into work with young people. - Reinforce the spirit of solidarity, social cohesion, and inclusion, and stimulate the social and political involvement of young people. In order to meet these needs, and with the aim of improving the skills of young workers in the field of sustainability and psycho-emotional support, we set the following objectives: - Train youth workers with ecosomatic practices that strengthen the connection between young people and nature, alleviate the effects of eco-anxiety, and give an embodied perspective on sustainable development. - Instruct youth workers in the regenerative approach so that they can apply it to the care of communities, their individuals and their habitats. - Develop the capacity and knowledge about emotional regulation, using tools from expressive arts and somatic practices, so that youth workers can incorporate this aspect into their work. - Promote physical practices focused on maintaining health, vitality, and body awareness. - Create and disseminate a freely accessible resource manual that compiles the methods and tools provided during the project. - Promote the objectives of the Erasmus+ Program in relation to the development of youth work, social cohesion, and solidarity at the local, national, and European levels. This hybrid training (virtual and on-site) combines a transdisciplinary approach (ecology, psychology, somatic, philosophy, and expressive arts) with a participatory methodological foundation, allowing us to develop a comprehensive perspective and encourage the involvement of participants. All the methods, tools, and resources used will be collaboratively compiled to create a freely accessible digital guide (toolkit) aimed at youth workers, educators, youth associations, young leaders, and interested individuals, which will be published on our social media and relevant platforms for youth work. With the publication of the Toolkit, we hope to ensure the sustainability and transfer of learnings and enrich the work of participating youth workers, their local and international networks, and the broader network of youth work in the European Union.
