Objectives

The "Lens on Change: Youth Empowerment for Civic Engagement" project leverages digital tools and the visual arts to promote youth participation and community engagement. The project focuses on different aspects/levels of civic engagement and capacity building of youth workers, promoting inclusive participation in the digital sphere, and backing all this up with holistic learning with non-formal education (NFE) methods. The project aims to empower youth workers/leaders and educators to motivate youth to be active citizens and advocate for social change using creative methods and innovative technology. Digital transformation has greatly changed the way our societies operate resulting also in how individuals, organizations, and governments interact and work with each other . Despite the widespread availability of ICT infrastructure in schools, education systems have often lagged in digital integration. Many countries are now prioritizing digital education, but there remains a gap in applying these technologies effectively in non-formal and informal settings. The “Lens on Change” project is important in this context, aiming to promote critical thinking and equip non-formal educators and youth workers with the skills needed to navigate this digital shift. By focusing on digital tools, the project leverages the significant role of visual arts in storytelling to enhance community engagement and NFE. The aim of “Lens on change” is to equip youth leaders and professionals with the knowledge and abilities to promote civic engagement via digital tools. The objectives of our initative are: 1. to raise participants' level of digital literacy by teaching them how to create and evaluate online information and media 2. to promote active citizenship by encouraging youth to become involved in local and international democratic processes. 3. to engage with digital democracy tools by introducing participants to various digital tools/platforms that enhance civic participation and communication with policymakers. 4. to foster intercultural dialogue by bringing together diverse youth/youth groups to share perspectives on societal challenges. 5. to encourage community engagement and advocacy enabling them to advocate for community improvements and contribute to solving local issues effectively. 6. to create opportunities for project partners to share and showcase best practices, lessons learned, and successful experiences from previous initiatives. The "Lens on Change: Youth Empowerment for Civic Engagement" project stands to significantly impact digital youth work, community engagement, and advocacy by integrating digital tools into educational and capacity building efforts. By doing so we give digital tools both for formal and informal settings, which they can effectively use in their daily work and motivate others. It promotes inclusivity and cultural relevance by engaging marginalized groups and offering a platform for diverse voices, thereby fostering social inclusion and community involvement. Locally, the project enhances participants' skills and understanding of European values, which in turn will be shared regionally and nationally, creating a multiplying effect through new European projects and a virtual learning community. On an international scale, the project facilitates networking, policy advocacy, and collaboration, advancing active citizenship and democracy across EU member and neighboring countries, and inspiring youth engagement on different levels and participation in European initiatives.
