By implementing this project, we aimed to strengthen environmental awareness, sustainability skills, and intercultural competence among young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities. From a youth work perspective, the main objective was to empower participants to become active and informed actors in their communities by equipping them with practical knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to environmental protection and climate action. The project specifically sought to address gaps in access to environmental education faced by young people from migrant and marginalized backgrounds, both in Finland and Jordan. Many participants have limited exposure to environmental topics due to language barriers, educational inequalities, or socio-economic challenges. Through non-formal education methods, the project aimed to make sustainability concepts accessible, relevant, and applicable to participants’ everyday lives. Another key objective was to foster intercultural learning and mutual understanding by bringing together young people from different cultural, social, and national contexts. By working collaboratively on shared environmental challenges, participants were encouraged to develop tolerance, empathy, and a sense of global responsibility, which are central to Erasmus+ youth exchange objectives. Additionally, the project aimed to strengthen young people’s transversal competences, including leadership, teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and project management. By actively involving participants in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities, the project promoted youth ownership, active participation, and learning by doing. Overall, the project aimed to contribute to the Erasmus+ objectives by promoting inclusion, active citizenship, sustainable development, and the empowerment of young people as change-makers at local, national, and international levels.
