Objectives

In today's world, the growing threat of terrorism and mass killings generates widespread fear and a sense of insecurity within society. People have become increasingly suspicious, often unable to understand different worldviews. What we need now more than ever is a better understanding and knowledge of other cultures and individuals. Young people, in particular, have limited interactions with individuals from diverse religious, ethnic, and national backgrounds. From our experience, it is evident that many young people and a significant portion of society still hold onto old stereotypes about foreigners and harbor fears of interacting with them. The development of intercultural dialogue can play a crucial role in addressing these challenges. Intercultural dialogue aims to establish connections and common ground among different cultures, communities, and individuals, thereby promoting understanding and interaction. A society that is more open, free from stereotypes, and less fearful can better embrace newcomers and understand them. By getting to know individuals of different religions, races, or nationalities, one gains a more comprehensive cultural education, broadening their worldview and leading to more open and effective communication between people. Music and the arts have the power not only to foster intercultural dialogue but also to enhance social inclusion. As our partner organizations often work with individuals facing various obstacles or young people who have peers with fewer opportunities, we believe that this project can significantly contribute to their social inclusion efforts. We plan to involve 18 participants who face challenges such as geographical, economic, social, cultural barriers, and educational difficulties. The primary goal of the project is to promote intercultural dialogue through music and art as communication tools for 36 young participants, supported by 8 group leaders and 1 facilitator. Simultaneously, it aims to increase the social inclusion of 18 participants facing fewer opportunities by organizing a youth exchange scheduled for May 4-11, 2025, in Gresse-en-Vercors, France. Among the project's objectives is raising awareness among 36 participants from France, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia about intercultural issues and using art as a means to facilitate communication throughout the project. For the partner organizations, the project presents an opportunity to enhance their work at the EU level and improve the quality of non-formal educational methods used in their activities. Our project aligns with several European Youth Goals, including: 2nd Goal - Equality of All Genders, by creating gender-neutral activities and striving for equal gender representation, as well as using non-discriminatory criteria in the selection process. 3rd Goal - Inclusive Societies, by supporting young people in identifying measures they can take and helping them take action. Additionally, the project aims to create a common understanding among young people facing fewer opportunities and reduce obstacles to their participation. 8th Youth Goal - Quality Learning, by encouraging young participants from various communities to engage in transnational exchanges and enhance their cultural understanding. These objectives align with the main goals of our partner organizations. The project also aligns with EU objectives and priorities, as outlined in the Erasmus+ guide, by improving key competences and skills relevant to a cohesive society, particularly in the youth field. It also addresses the EU Youth Strategy's areas of action, including engaging and connecting young people, supporting those with fewer opportunities, and promoting social inclusion. Lastly, the project aligns with Youth Exchange aims of fostering intercultural dialogue, skill development, and breaking down prejudices and stereotypes through peer learning and collaboration between young people from France, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Republic of Moldova.
