Objectives

The YOU_LEAD project aimed to empower 30 young Europeans (18–30 years old) by enhancing their employability, leadership, active citizenship, self-development, and engagement among participants through a holistic training approach. It supported young individuals in developing the skills needed to overcome professional and personal challenges. YOU_LEAD prepared participants for the job market and also to take leadership roles in their communities. Key objectives included: Boosting Employability: By equipping participants with practical skills in negotiation, leadership, and digital marketing, directly applicable in real-world job settings. Fostering Leadership: Teaching the adapted “7 Leadership Behaviors” model to help youth take initiative and lead change in their communities. Developing Digital Competence: Providing training in digital tools, content creation, and AI (e.g., ChatGPT) to prepare participants for the digital economy. Building Negotiation Skills: Using hands-on workshops and real-life scenarios (e.g., Cyprus conflict role-play) to enhance conflict resolution and stakeholder engagement abilities. Encouraging Sustainability: Promoting environmental responsibility through activities like beach clean-ups and discussions on green practices. Supporting Well-being, cultural awareness and inclusion: With participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, YOU_LEAD emphasizes intercultural dialogue and inclusion. Integrating physical, emotional, and cultural activities (e.g., yoga, sports, traditional Greek/ Cypriot dance) to promote holistic development and intercultural dialogue. Ultimately, the project sought to increase participants’ confidence, job readiness, and community leadership, particularly supporting youth with fewer opportunities across Europe. Regarding the partner structures: Fondation Hippocrène, for the YOU_LEAD project, recruited youth from France, including those facing socio-economic challenges. CZAR Training in Cyprus served as the host organization, providing training, resources, and leadership in the project’s overall delivery. CSCE contributed by bringing youth participants from other EU countries and acting as an expert in working with young people facing fewer opportunities. They also provided one of the facilitators, ensuring that the training addresses the specific needs of marginalized youth. Participant-Created Content: The project culminated in participants producing videos (largely disseminated by all participating organizations afterwards) that reflect their learning experiences, centred around themes of leadership, sustainability, or digital innovation. These creative outputs will reinforce the program’s core objectives and provide participants with video production skills that can be applied to educational or community projects. Long-Term Impact: By offering comprehensive training in these areas, YOU_LEAD aimed to make a lasting impact on participants' confidence, employability, and leadership potential, setting them on a path to continued personal and professional success. Several participants found a job and improved their career immediately after their participation. The involvement of Collectif pour un Service Civique Européen as a partner with expertise in working with youth with fewer opportunities ensures the program is accessible and impactful for marginalized youth from across Europe.
