“Growing and Nurturing our ecosystems” was led by the Jardins de Reliance association, located in Tourves in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The project brought together 5 European associations and 20 participants and took place from June 2nd to 11th, 2025. The objectives were as follows: - To improve and recognize the work of youth workers through a certified training program (YouthPass). The topics covered included permaculture design, agroforestry, regenerative hydrology and water resource management, naturopathy, and agroecology. - To develop a framework for facilitating and designing tools to help participants disseminate and share the knowledge and skills acquired during the project with other young people. - To deepen our understanding of living systems and learn about growing our own food through naturopathic sessions, while also caring for the Earth. - The gathering of European associations linked by challenges and issues of the Mediterranean climate. They were connected by problems of a climate marked by alternating floods and droughts, as well as the impact of tourism on their territories and on agricultural production, often involving water-intensive monocultures. We collaborated with several European associations and youth organizations to build a strong network based on shared values. Our aim was to train and engage youth organizations, and consequently the young people they work with, by equipping them with the skills to participate in this transition—skills they then had the opportunity to share in their own countries. Another objective was to strengthen European cohesion. We promoted cooperation and mobility among partner countries by encouraging youth organizations, and therefore young people themselves, to participate in the EU's democratic values. We provided a concrete solution to the problem of unemployment by providing them with skills and knowledge they needed to find their place in the job market. We called upon qualified trainers. The PermaLab design office was the main one. Present in numerous Erasmus+ projects, it provided high-quality instruction on topics related to regenerative hydrology, permaculture design, and agroecology. It offered training in design, understanding the water, carbon, and nitrogen cycles, as well as presenting concrete solutions to issues addressed. It also provided tools and resources to teach facilitation to young people through role-playing, co-creation workshops and more. Driven by the dream of a more inclusive society, we welcomed people with fewer opportunities, primarily from economic backgrounds (PAMO). The training was structured around the 8-shields model which is based, among other things, on eight fundamental agreements that define practices for supporting a healthy and regenerative culture between all living things and humans as well as between individuals. This involved facilitating the cultural reconstruction of networks of connection to oneself, to others, to places, to the world, to life, and to nature—networks that structured, supported, and nourished individuals while giving meaning to their existence. To ensure this knowledge could be applied to the work of youth workers, we drew upon SALTO's toolkit, such as the Footprint manual and Global Responsibility Education: A Manual for Youth Workers. The aim was to provide participants with transferable learning tools for their own countries enabling them to return after the project and create their own events with young people using these facilitation resources. The content of these manuals offered youth leaders practical advice on how to inspire young people and launch an era of global responsibility through the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Based on our experience and the feedback from participants this trip was a resounding success. It brought together people (about sixty in total, including the feedback evening) from different cultures who nevertheless share common visions, intentions and values to generate abundant, resilient, sustainable living spaces and who are committed to doing so through learning, action and transmission.
