Objectives

In Europe, the professional promotion of traditional know-how and cultural heritage offers real opportunities to young people living especially in rural and island areas. Youth workers have an important role to play in raising awareness and promoting hand trades as the jobs of tomorrow among young people. The organization of the transnational seminar entitled "Intangible Cultural Heritage Days 'Handlooms and tomorrow’s crafts': promoting the engagement and inclusion of young people through activities related to the promotion of traditional artisanal know-how" responds to the need to increase attractiveness and to promote "handcrafts such as the crafts of tomorrow" among European youth - Spain- and residing in the outermost regions of the French West Indies and Guyana in rural and island areas in terms of support for young people with fewer opportunities. However, issues related to the social and economic valuation of cultural heritage remain unknown to youth workers and therefore rarely addressed as a non-formal education tool. The economic valuation of traditional know-how and cultural and natural heritage remains marginal, but little emphasized in a path of socialization and personal and professional development of young people. The meetings and exchanges of best practices that took place within the framework of the transnational seminar "European Cultural Heritage Days for Inclusion: Fostering the engagement and inclusion of JAMOs through activities related to the enhancement of cultural heritage and traditional skills is part of this effort to strengthen the skills of youth workers through a transnational seminar organized in Guadeloupe and particularly to Marie-Galante.
