The main idea behind this project was to enable a group of young rural Bretons to take an active role and engage in the implementation and facilitation of workshops on a specific theme, namely the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). By raising awareness of the SDGs at the local level, the young rural Bretons were asked to brainstorm and co-create a workshop focusing on a specific SDG, chosen by the group itself, in order to present and facilitate it to peers from different rural areas during the National Youth Festival on May 21st and 22nd in Strasbourg. Through this project and festival, the idea was also to enable young people to become aware of their share of responsibility in today's world and how each individual, at their own level, could influence it. It also allowed them to develop citizenship, their agency, their commitment, and their CPS (Psycho-Social Skills) to enable them to become free and informed citizens. This project also aimed to enable these rural youth to meet other rural youth, as well as local, departmental, and regional decision-makers, in order to work on otherness, openness to others, and self-knowledge, all of which are strong values promoted by the MFR (Maisons Familiales Rurales) movement and its accompanying EMA (Education aux Mondes et aux Autres). Also, allowing young rural Breton residents to travel to Strasbourg for two days as part of the National Festival provided an opportunity to work on individual mobility, as well as on commitment and European citizenship through the city of Strasbourg itself and its European Parliament.
