The “15 Years of Empowerment Towards an Inclusive Society” project aimed to promote an inclusive society through the empowerment of young people with disabilities. This initiative sought to strengthen cooperation among youth, share good practices, and develop concrete solutions for the inclusion of people with disabilities. Since its restructuring in 2010, 100% Handinamique has established itself as a driving force in the fight for youth empowerment and the promotion of an inclusive society. Taking the opportunity of our 15th anniversary, we not only celebrated the progress made, but also used this milestone to reaffirm our mission and core values. Aligned with the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme, this project aimed to promote inclusion, encourage active youth participation, and foster the acquisition of key skills. By focusing on concrete actions such as peer-led workshops and roundtable discussions, participants developed skills in leadership, project management, and advocacy. Young participants had the opportunity to share their needs and priorities, which helped shape the content of the workshops they could register for, thereby enhancing the relevance of the learning experience. The project was structured around two main phases for the young participants: Friday was dedicated to encounters between young people and institutional stakeholders. Roundtables and conferences were held to allow young participants to directly question political decision-makers on topics such as youth, accessibility, higher education, employment, and self-representation. Saturday and Sunday were dedicated to peer learning and exchange, with interactive workshops lasting 1.5 hours each. These workshops were designed and facilitated by young people, for young people, in the spirit of popular education. We identified the needs of young participants around six broad thematic areas, ensuring these needs were addressed throughout the weekend and within every workshop. These areas were further refined by each peer support group based on their field experience: Empowerment and personal development, Access to education and employment, Active participation and social engagement, Building self-confidence, Peer networking and mutual support, Access to solutions for social and professional inclusion. The objectives of the “15 Years of Empowerment Towards an Inclusive Society” event were built around these needs, aiming to: Foster constructive dialogue Strengthen the empowerment of young people with disabilities Create synergies between key stakeholders
