The “Grandes Rurales de la Jeunesse” aimed to create momentum at the local, national, and European levels to mobilize young people from rural areas (ages 13–30) around the theme: the role of celebration in rural social cohesion. The objective was to examine the place of associations and young people within festive spaces, and to explore how celebration can serve as a vehicle for open and supportive social bonds, while also potentially reinforcing discrimination and oppressive mechanisms. Based on territorial assessments and local initiatives carried out by young people in local teams or at the departmental level, the role of celebration was re-examined through the concerns of rural youth involved in the MRJC. The “Grandes Rurales de la Jeunesse” sought to engage 1,500 young people in this journey throughout 2025, culminating in the Mauges (Maine-et-Loire) during the national gathering held from July 11 to 14, 2025. These meetings provided an opportunity to share all local initiatives and territorial assessments, to explore the theme in greater depth through workshops, conferences, debates, and round tables, and also to experience rural celebration as reinvented by the young people of 2025.
