The main goal of the project was to equip youth workers from Hungary and neighboring regions with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital space confidently, consciously, and responsibly, and to reach and engage young people more effectively through social media platforms. The training focused on media literacy, online communication, and the use of digital tools in youth work, with particular emphasis on outreach, activation, and participation of young people. Beyond professional development, the project also aimed to strengthen participants’ self-awareness, helping them recognize the challenges of the digital environment and use these insights to benefit their own organizations and communities. The program also fostered cooperation among participants and their organizations. Coordinated by the Fiatalok a Nemzetért Alapítvány (Hungary) in partnership with the Vigyázó Egyesület (Romania), Casino Hont (Slovakia), the Association of Hungarian Students and Young Researchers of Transcarpathia (Ukraine), and the Nyers István Sports Academy (Serbia), the training sought to build a strong cross-border network of youth professionals capable of launching new initiatives related to media awareness. The partner organizations were responsible for recruiting participants, addressing local needs, and preparing young people for the mobility, while the trainers — Katalin Baracsi, Veronika Pelle, and Ádám Guld — ensured that the program’s methodology was based on the most current pedagogical approaches and digital media trends. The trainers’ professional background: Katalin Baracsi is an Internet lawyer and renowned trainer who has been helping people of all ages navigate the world of online safety, data protection, and conscious internet use for 16 years—both in Hungary and abroad. Veronika Pelle is a lecturer and PhD student at Corvinus University of Budapest. She teaches and trains in the fields of media literacy and communication, and also works for the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH), making her an expert on the latest trends. Ádám Guld is an associate professor at the University of Pécs, a media researcher, and a youth communication specialist with extensive experience in education, consulting, and training. A key objective was also to include participants with fewer opportunities, mainly those facing economic and geographical disadvantages, providing them not only with professional growth but also with personal development opportunities. Although all participants were native Hungarian speakers, they came from different countries, which allowed for smooth communication while enriching the intercultural experience and the international dimension of the project. In the long term, the project aimed to ensure that participants transfer their newly acquired knowledge and skills to their own communities, thereby promoting media literacy, digital awareness, and civic engagement among young people and contributing to the development of a more responsible and conscious online generation. Another major goal of the project was the creation of a practical guide titled “Digital Presence Smartly – A Guide to the World of Social Media”, which was based on the experiences and results of the training. The publication aimed to compile practical knowledge, tools, and methods that help youth workers and organizations build a conscious, responsible, and effective online presence. The guide presents the operation of key social media platforms, offers content creation guidelines and communication strategies, and highlights the importance of data protection, digital safety, and ethical media use. The development of the guide was a collaborative process: with the professional support of the trainers, participants contributed real examples and experiences, making the final product not only a summary of the training but also a living, reusable professional resource that continues to be shared widely among the partner organizations after the project’s completion.
