Objectives

With the implementation of the project, we aimed to help youth workers and youth organisations become more effective, conscious and impactful in turning their ideas and initiatives into reality. The background of the project was the realization that, although the European youth sector has experienced rapid growth in recent years, many organisations still lack the necessary skills and competences to transform ideas into realistic, feasible and sustainable projects. Our own experience, our international network and the needs analysis carried out during the preparation phase all confirmed that dozens of organisations across Europe face similar challenges and have a clear need to develop in order to work in a more practical, structured and efficient way. In response to this need, the E.Y.E.S. project placed the development of entrepreneurship competence at its centre - primarily through the training of 23 youth workers. We understood this not only in a business-related sense, but as a broader competence that acts as a bridge between ideation and implementation. We strongly believe that entrepreneurial skills such as creativity, problem-solving, adaptability, resilience and responsibility are essential in quality youth work. These competences support not only professional development, but also personal growth, self-confidence and the ability of youth workers to take initiative and create value within their communities. One of the main objectives of the project was therefore to help youth workers develop a more pragmatic mindset and learn how to turn inspiring ideas into projects that are realistic, well-planned and feasible. Another major goal was to improve the quality of youth work by using innovative, multidisciplinary and non-formal learning methods. We wanted to create workshops and learning processes tailored to the real needs of participants and directly applicable to their daily organisational practice. It was especially important for us that participants would gain new methods (e.g. GANTT, SMART goals, Cashflow plan), materials and approaches that could support their everyday work and help them work more effectively with young people, especially those with fewer opportunities. The project also aimed to promote the international exchange of good practices, to deepen participants’ understanding of attitudes towards youth work in different countries, and to strengthen a cooperative network capable of creating value even after the project’s lifetime. The diversity of partner countries provided a strong basis for this exchange. At the same time, all partner organisations highlighted the importance of efficiency, quality and innovation, and agreed that entrepreneurship competence should be seen as a basic element of youth work and a key factor for progress. Finally, the project was closely aligned with the EU Youth Strategy and several European Youth Goals, especially Quality Learning, Space and Participation for All, Youth Organisations & European Programmes, and Connecting EU with Youth. Overall, we did not only aim to deliver a high-quality professional development activity, but also to initiate a long-term SHIFT IN MINDSET that contributes to more effective, innovative and inclusive youth work across Europe.
