In implementing this project, our primary goal was to introduce almost 200 young people to the world of civic and political engagement. Through a simulation of the processes of the European Parliament, participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in European values, meet people from diverse backgrounds, engage in a variety of non-formal learning activities, and broaden their horizons to the host of opportunities available to them across Europe. Our objectives were to promote a sense of European identity among young people, open their eyes to the importance of the EU in their lives, and show them how their voice can be heard. We aimed to create a platform where young people could learn from their peers, and develop their leadership, public speaking, teamwork, and academic writing skills among others. Every aspect of the project was run by young people, for young people, and our overarching goal was to inspire and empower young people to effect change in their communities. This summary can be expressed more formally through the following list of objectives, which were at the forefront of every process that occurred during the project lifecycle: Promote a sense of European identity, and belonging, through the broadening of participants’ horizons regarding culture and diversity. Strengthen the relationships with international partners, and create a more integrated Europe. Provide equal opportunity to people of all genders, races, socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientations or any other feature of someone's identity. Create a space where everyone involved in the project can grow and improve their leadership, public speaking, teamwork, academic writing and other soft skills. Promote dialogue and engagement between young people and policy makers, and bridge the gap between the leaders of today, and the leaders of tomorrow.
