Objectives

Our project "Step up your art" aims to create an inclusive space where art is used as an alternative means of communication to promote the active participation and decision-making in the democratic society of young people with sensory and intellectual disabilities. The specific objectives of the project are: -The active participation of 15 young people from 3 countries (Italy, Greece and Bulgaria) with sensory impairments and intellectual disabilities in a youth exchange where music will be introduced as a tool to facilitate self-reflection and communication. For the participation in the Youth Exchange, they are supported by 3 group leaders and accompanying persons, -The active participation of 15 young people with sensory and intellectual disabilities from 3 countries (Italy, Greece and Bulgaria) in the organisation of local activities aimed at raising the awareness of local communities about the needs of young people with disabilities living in the same community. For the organisations of the activities, they are supported by their group leaders and partner organisations. -The realisation of a toolkit presenting activities accessible to both young people with sensory impairments and young people with intellectual disabilities, realised thanks to the exchange of practices between 3 partner organisations, integrated with the contributions of the participants of the project. -The production of a motivational video documenting the experiences of the participants, offering inspiration and support to other young people in Europe facing similar challenges, as well as raising the awareness of the international community of the importance of supporting young people with sensory impairments and intellectual disabilities in democratic society; the video is silent, conveying the message through images developed by the participants of the project.
