Objectives

The "Young People Envision New Worlds" project aims to raise awareness among young people about the positive role that religions and faiths can play in modern societies, promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue. Today, religions are often perceived as a source of conflict, misunderstanding, or as a legacy of the past. Through this exchange, we want to explore religions from a new and different perspective: that they can coexist and inspire positive changes in a constantly evolving world. From a youth work perspective, the project aims to: Creating an environment of mutual trust, respect, and friendship, where everyone feels welcomed and valued. This will be achieved in the first days through ice-breaking and team-building activities designed to establish strong emotional bonds. These connections will be continuously nurtured and reinforced throughout the exchange, with daily reflections in small groups on the group dynamics. This approach will help maintain a safe, open, and non-judgmental space. Increasing the understanding of the main cultural aspects of each religion involved in the project, the religions considered in the project are: Islam, Judaism, and Christian religions, such as Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant. We will do that, by sharing key celebrations, simple religious texts, songs, and art. This deeper understanding is intended to foster the development of an intercultural mindset in the participants. The sessions will focus on emphasizing respect for religious and cultural differences, with the goal of reducing prejudices and promoting constructive dialogue. To consolidate this learning, participants will reflect in small groups and complete a questionnaire to assess their insights and personal growth. Facilitating and strengthening the dissemination of values such as freedom, tolerance, solidarity, and peace. Participants will engage in debates and discussions to critically examine how religions are perceived in contemporary society, focusing on prejudices and stereotypes. Afterwards, they will use their creativity to imagine a society where religions coexist in harmony, playing a positive role in promoting pluralism and mutual understanding, contributing to conflict resolution. The culmination of these discussions and debates will be the creation of a document—such as a statement of intent or a reminder letter—in which the participants outline key principles and practical suggestions for implementing these values in their communities. Enhancing active citizenship by involving participants in the proactive organization of a local event that promotes messages of hope and human dignity. The event will also provide an opportunity for participants to present their religions through songs, music, readings of religious texts, and artistic expressions. The main goal of this event is to raise awareness within the local community about the themes explored during the exchange and to highlight what the European Union does for its young people, thus strengthening European citizenship. Finally, materials such as videos, photos, and articles will be produced to document and spread the impact and messages of the final event."
