The main objective of the “Choose to Be You” project was to support young people in developing the skills needed to make conscious and informed personal, educational, and professional decisions. The project was based on the understanding that young people today are faced with an increasing number of opportunities and choices, which often lead to uncertainty, decision-making anxiety, and difficulties in defining their own life paths. Through the youth exchange, we aimed to strengthen participants’ ability to make informed decisions aligned with their personal values, improve self-awareness, promote mental well-being, and develop a critical understanding of the influence of social media and phenomena such as FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and FOBO (Fear of Better Options). The specific objectives of the project were to enhance decision-making and critical thinking skills, increase participants’ self-confidence and resilience, foster intercultural dialogue and peer learning, promote a healthier and more balanced approach to digital life, and encourage active participation in local communities. The project also contributed to the development of transversal competences such as communication, international cooperation, active citizenship, and intercultural awareness. Through non-formal education methods, experiential activities, and individual and group reflection sessions, participants acquired practical tools to face contemporary challenges and become active and responsible protagonists of their own future.
