Objectives

The Peacemakers project was born from the idea that peace must start from the inner well-being of each individual and then spread to a social and community level. In a world characterized by growing tensions and divisions, it is essential to train young peace promoters, capable of spreading a positive message through their personal experience and creativity. Peace, understood as personal balance and harmony in relationships, is the first step to building more peaceful and inclusive communities. Peacemakers aims to transform young people into agents of change, including those with fewer opportunities, providing them with concrete tools to promote peace in their lives and in their local contexts. According to the Global Peace Index (GPI), Europe is one of the most peaceful regions in the world, but in recent years it has seen growing internal social and political tensions. Polarizations, migration crises and an increase in acts of violence and discrimination undermine peaceful coexistence between different communities. Peace in Europe today requires not only the absence of armed conflicts, but also the ability to build dialogue, mutual respect and social cohesion. The role of young people in this process is crucial, as they represent the future and have the potential to positively influence their communities through messages of inclusion and solidarity. The project creates a dynamic, multicultural and safe environment in which each participant uses creativity and non-formal education as fundamental tools to stimulate reflection and action. During the exchange, the 36 participants will explore creative methods such as photography, video reels, public speaking and drawing. These tools will allow them to reflect on the concept of peace on a personal, interpersonal and community level. Participants will be encouraged to create artistic works that represent their vision of peace and to present them in public exhibitions, both during the exchange and afterwards in their communities. This experience will not only foster creative expression, but will also promote intercultural dialogue and strengthen bonds within communities. The project aims to make young people active promoters of peace, capable of spreading a positive message in their communities and beyond. The name Peacemakers reflects exactly this: participants will not only be explorers of peace, but also agents of change who can transform their experiences into a concrete message of peace. Peacemakers aims to equip young people, including those with fewer opportunities, to actively contribute to building a more inclusive and peaceful society, through dialogue, creativity and collaboration. Non-formal education will play a key role in enhancing skills such as conflict management, empathy and intercultural communication, all essential to address the challenges of today's world.
