In today's world, our cultural heritage serves as a valuable treasure chest filled with the stories, traditions, and wisdom passed down from our ancestors. It shapes our sense of identity and helps us understand where we come from, which is particularly vital for young people. By recognizing and preserving our cultural heritage, we foster a sense of belonging and pride in who we are. However, many young people today are disconnected from their own cultural roots and unfamiliar with the rich diversity of other cultures. This project aims to address that gap, not only by preserving traditions but also by promoting cross-generational understanding and adding vibrancy to the world through cultural exchange. Through this initiative, we will bring cultural heritage to life on stage. The core idea of this project is to use theater and drama as dynamic, engaging tools to tackle the challenges of preserving and celebrating cultural heritage in a globalized world. By uniting participants from diverse countries and backgrounds, the project aims to deepen their understanding of both their own and others' cultural legacies. It will promote cross-cultural dialogue, challenge stereotypes, and provide young people with the skills and motivation to become active global citizens. Ultimately, the project seeks to create a culturally enriched, interconnected, and tolerant society by breathing life into cultural heritage through the performing arts. Why theater as a method: Theater offers a creative way to explore and express cultural heritage. The project will begin with workshops teaching participants the fundamentals of acting and storytelling, empowering them to explore their cultural backgrounds through performance. Participants will be encouraged to share cultural stories, rituals, and historical events, which will be adapted into scripts for stage performances, preserving and promoting their traditions in a dynamic format. Interpretative performances using acting, dance, music, and art will further capture the essence of cultural heritage. Collaborative projects will involve participants from different countries working together to create unique performances that celebrate the diversity of their traditions. Additionally, theater will serve as a platform for addressing contemporary issues such as discrimination and stereotypes. These performances will be shared with local communities, fostering discussions about culture, identity, and understanding. Why this project is necessary: • Traditional customs and cultural practices are at risk of disappearing due to rapid cultural globalization. • Young people have limited exposure to both their own cultural heritage and the heritage of other countries. • Misunderstandings and misconceptions about different cultures persist. • Traditional arts are being overshadowed by modern entertainment, threatening the transmission of cultural knowledge. • Preserving and celebrating cultural heritage is crucial for promoting intercultural dialogue, understanding, and harmony. Main goal: The project aims to preserve and celebrate cultural heritage in a globalized world, using theater and drama as tools to foster cultural understanding, tolerance, and appreciation.
