Objectives

The project carries out an exchange of 32 young people from 4 countries – Italy, Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia – who will live immersed in nature for 9 days, staying in tents, with different rhythms than those they are used to, to recover their psychophysical well-being, to better know the environment and to develop healthier and more sustainable behaviors. The project was born from a proposal by some young Italians: they participated in some activities the Dimora Accogliente carried out in the countryside; the contact with nature and animals benefited them and they were relieved from the psychological distress that many of them were experiencing. The idea then was supported by the three partners, who were also interested about working on the psychophysical well-being of their young beneficiaries. The objectives of the project are: - To increase the psychological well-being of 32 young people from 4 countries, at least 29 of whom with fewer opportunities and most of whom reside in degraded urban or suburban contexts, through an experience of immersive contact with nature - To increase environmental awareness and knowledge of sustainable living practices in the 32 young participants, through non-formal education activities - To increase in the 32 young participants awareness on the importance of diversity as richness both in nature and in society and therefore improve cultural understanding among young people coming from different contexts, promoting empathy and interculturality - To provide the 32 young participants with the opportunity to spend 9 days with peers of different nationalities, living and working together to recover from the stress of the city life and to develop personal skills and abilities related to teamwork and problem solving, to strengthen their personal growth and promote their active citizenship. During the exchange, the young participants will camp in tents for 9 days, with rhythms marked by nature, different from those of their city life. They will carry out activities in the open air, with immediate psycho-physical benefits; they will be more serene and relaxed and will reduce symptoms such as stress, anxiety, apathy and aggressive attitude. They will acquire a series of personal skills that will be very useful for their growth and for their adaptation in a future work environment such as the ability to work in a team, leadership, respect for roles, the ability to deal with unusual situations by developing problem solving and decision making, the ability to evaluate and select alternatives. They will live in narrow and limited spaces learning to share them with their peers, they will leave their comfort zone by adapting and mediating. Mobility in a European context will allow young people to live in a multicultural environment and to learn about different cultures. The project will help partner organizations to consolidate their networks at an international level and to increase their chances for future international collaborations and projects. Project partners will also be able to share good practices and improve the quality of future projects, especially those aimed at young people with fewer opportunities.
