CAP 66010 is a youth exchange program born out of the need to meet the needs of young people from rural and mountainous areas, serving as a vehicle to promote and disseminate the values, roles, institutions, and programs of the European Union (EU). Through an international experience, the project aims to offer young people the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the theme of the EU, taking on active roles and participating actively as spokespeople for the various member countries. From discussions with local youth and the experience of previous youth exchanges, it has emerged that especially the youth population from rural and mountainous areas is characterized by a widespread uncertainty regarding the knowledge of the values, socio-political history, and structure of the European Union, especially in relation to youth development policies and programs. There is also a general sense of detachment from the EU. The EU is often perceived as a purely political institution, distant and not very involved in the social contexts of youth development in small rural and mountainous communities. This feeling of distance is further amplified by the lack, except for a few exceptions, of networks, institutions, and organizations in these areas that serve as intermediaries and spokespersons for EU youth and cultural policies. Thanks to this exchange, young people will have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the theme of the project. In fact, Lama dei Peligni, whose CAP is 66010 (hence the name of the project), during the entire week of the exchange, will transform into the European Union capital, with its parliament and iconic places. The participants, in turn, will take on the roles of spokespersons (parliamentarians, journalists, etc.) of the various member countries. Based on these reflections, the specific objectives of CAP 66010 are: - Promote awareness of the EU in rural and mountainous areas: transmit to young people a deep understanding of the fundamental values of the EU (democracy, human rights, cultural diversity, and equality). - Foster understanding of the roles of different European bodies and institutions. - Increase active youth participation: encourage participants to become active and responsible European citizens, promoting participation in democratic life and community activities at both local and European levels. - Stimulate active participation in the local community: strengthen the link between international experience and involvement in the local community, encouraging participants to share their experiences and acquired knowledge with their home context. - Promote youth mobility: support youth mobility as a tool to broaden horizons, stimulate open-mindedness, and foster personal and professional development. - Support the construction of a European identity: contribute to the formation of a sense of belonging among participating young people, promoting European citizenship as an integral part of their identity.
