The focus of this Youth Exchange will be to analyze the expectations and desires of young people, and the anxiety they experience, due to the pressure coming from society and the performance-driven environment we are all living in. We want to question the “performance society", focusing on the constant pressures that young people face with respect to knowing what they want, who they are, what they want to do with their lives. We want to offer some practical tools to face this reality and understand how to live with it. Yoga and body movement can be mindfulness tools for leaving out all expectations and beginning again to accept oneself even with one's frailties as a young adult and one's insecurities and fears toward the future that is increasingly unstable and uncertain. We want to use yoga as a tool for awareness, not "wellness" to escape from a difficult reality that does not represent us. A tool to understand how to stay within the complexity and difficulty that many young people experience in society. Starting from the concept of health as "a state of total physical, mental and social well-being" and not simply "absence of disease or infirmity" (WHO), the idea is to explore the concept of mental and physical well-being through disciplines that can unite the two spheres of being human. Another tool we will implement is coaching technique, thanks to experienced coaches who will support the participants during the Youth Exchange and that will explore the idea of dreams, goals, personal growth, and show some practical tools to reach them and to set sustainable objectives without anxiety or competition with others. Project Objectives One of the objectives of this project is to become more aware of the economical, climatic, social obstacles that prevent young people, especially the ones with fewer opportunities, to reach their goals, and criticize once again this rhetoric of "if you want it, you can do it!" The purpose of this Youth Exchange is to give the participants some practical tools to face this discomfort, such as meditation, yoga, workshops for self-awareness and body movement to reconnect with themselves and be more aware of what they want, how to reach their objectives knowing that it's not all in their power, and it's not all their fault if they have troubles reaching them, but the environment they live in plays a great role.
