Entrepreneurial learning - entrepreneurship educationDigital skills and competencesArtificial Intelligence (AI) and data usage

Objectives

Context The idea of the project came during the previously implemented youth exchange (YE) “Design Your Future” in Lithuania by its participants from Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia. During the project the participants had a chance to brainstorm on competences that they lack and that their communities fail to offer, and almost every participant mentioned Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills that would open the whole new door for the young people, as it was mentioned by participants themselves that the whole world is moving towards digitalization and these competences are becoming of increasing importance each day. This project was one of such solutions and its aim was to spark the inertia that affects youth in two fronts: 1. Low level of youth entrepreneurship activities 2. Low level of access to digital and creative education, namely in AI. The partners in Slovakia, Romania and Estonia confirmed that they suffer from the same concerns in their communities and they would gladly join the project on the topic of AI as a way to fight youth unemployment without hesitation. Identification of the problem The levels of Youth unemployment in European Union (EU) in general have been increasing in the last couple of years, according to the statistics of 2023 by OECD it remains at unacceptable numbers of 13,8%. In Lithuania, the national situation is above average with 9,3% but the situation is not generalized to every region in the country and it is higher in the Sudovia region where the association activates. The same happens in the small communities where our partners activate. The level of youth unemployment in SK 20,2,3%, in EE was 20%, RO even 22,3%. These numbers were above the EU average (and still are) and send an alarming signal. Adding to this in all the 4 communities, there is a significantly low level of entrepreneurial activity, with young people not willing to take risks in creating their own opportunities. AI generated content in visuals or written is almost everywhere today. In most cases we do not even know that something that we use or see or read is AI generated which means that AI had to be employed in an important field. AI is becoming more and more attainable for the implementation of ordinary people by providing easy access applications such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Claude AI and CoPilot, that are widely used in the industry. AI programming can be performed remotely from any devices with our mobile phones and it may serve as an enormous enhancer of youth employment in the digital field; we can even now take further steps to make a AI generated creations or projects to create ideas to real products. The young people from all the 4 partner communities did not have easy access to the necessary environments where they could explore and learn more about this topic and so, this project aimed to provide that. Goal The goal of this project was to introduce or develop young participants’ skills in AI and boost their active engagement in entrepreneurial activities. The project had one mobility: a youth exchange which took place in Elniakampis, Lithuania between 20-29th May, 2025. It involved 40 young participants from 4 countries: Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia including 18 participants who were facing fewer opportunities and also 8 group leaders and 2 experts in the topic as facilitators and 1 staff member. Objectives By the end of the project we reached the following objectives: O1. Introduced participants from Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia to all creative stages of AI. O2. Increased the confidence of participants from Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia to engage in entrepreneurial activities using AI. O3. Raised the awareness of 40 participants from Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia of entrepreneurial activities they could engage in by having AI skills. The objectives of our youth exchange directly contributed to the Erasmus+ programme objectives and priorities.
