The youth exchange project “Go Green” was designed in response to the growing need to strengthen young people’s environmental awareness and promote sustainable lifestyles. In recent years, it has been observed that many young people lack practical habits related to environmental responsibility and have limited connection with nature. Furthermore, the post-COVID context has contributed to increased screen time and reduced outdoor engagement, highlighting the importance of re-establishing a meaningful relationship with the natural environment. We noticed that many teenagers lack habits related to caring for nature and are not sufficiently familiar with environmentally friendly lifestyles. Additionally, after the COVID-19 period, young people have become more accustomed to digital environments and spend less time outdoors, which has reduced their connection with nature and active lifestyles. As partner organizations our main goal of the project was to promote environmental awareness, green thinking, and responsible behavior towards nature by engaging young people in outdoor and non-formal education activities. We also aimed to encourage young people to understand the importance of preserving natural resources and to take responsibility for contributing to a more sustainable future, both locally and globally. The main goal of Youth mobility project "Go green" was to connect young people, aged 14 - 18 from Lithuania, Bulgaria, Italy and Slovenia with the aim to promote environmental understanding, green thinking, active participation and being nature friendly through outdoor education and nonformal education methods. The project also sought to contribute to the development of responsible, active citizens who are aware of their role in protecting natural resources and acting for a more sustainable future, in line with the priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme. The specific objectives of the project were: 1. To introduce topics of sustainability, upcycling, nature friendly camping, active participation. 2. To encourage communication and cooperation of young people to promote nature friendly being and active participation through interactive games, activities and workshops. 3. To give opportunities to young people to take initiative and responsibilities, to get out of their comfort zone during activities and interactions and to become more active participants and citizens and improve social skills. 4. To promote intercultural learning. Through these objectives, the project aimed to support young people in developing not only knowledge but also attitudes and behaviors that contribute to environmental sustainability and social inclusion. It also provided a space for young people to exchange experiences, reflect on common challenges, and take first steps towards positive change at both local and European levels.
