Objectives

The project was created in response to the rising division among European societies, where ideologies promoting cultural, linguistic and historical differences are gaining popularity. This tendency contradicts the primary values of European countries - unity, inclusion, and social connectivity. Therefore, Connecting through Sports is a project aiming to unite people, initiating dialogue through shared activities such as sports and workshops. We aimed to: - Promote international equality through participation in sports activities. - Promote anti-discrimination efforts of all kinds and raise awareness of the importance of principles like tolerance, equality, and respect. - Improve participants' understanding of the importance of non-formal education, resulting in improved quality of their social work and employability. - Use sports to promote the activities of partner organisations aimed at creating a culture of peace in Europe, based on universal human rights objectives. - Create network collaboration and exchange practices, methods, and work rules among partner organisations from different social groups. The uniqueness of this project lies in the international exchange of traditional sports practices and ethnical games, thus strengthening tolerance and unity among all participants. The youth was exposed to diverse cultures, finding both similarities and differences through the lens of respect. Further, workshops, simulations, debates, role-plays and other group activities were organised in a way that participants were cooperating in mixed country groups, facilitating multinational cooperation. This youth exchange is addressing rising political and social instability through the non-verbal power of physical activity, in particular, contemporary and traditional sports. We aimed to bring together young activists interested in sports and the present political situation in Europe.
