The E+motion project aims to support youth workers by enhancing their mental well-being, self-awareness, and connection to the community through experiential learning, movement, and creative expression. The primary objective is to equip youth workers with tools and strategies to manage stress, prevent burnout, and foster emotional resilience, which are crucial for sustaining their role in youth work. By focusing on both personal and professional growth, the project addresses the specific challenges youth workers face, ensuring they can continue to support young people effectively. PROJECT OBJECTIVES FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF YOUTH WORK PRACTICE: - Improving Well-being and Resilience: E+motion helps youth workers strengthen their emotional resilience and well-being, providing them with practical tools like yoga, meditation, and nature-based exercises. By the end of the project, 90% of participants will feel more equipped to handle stress and burnout, as measured by pre- and post-program surveys. - Developing Holistic Approaches: The project focuses on familiarizing youth workers with holistic well-being methods that are non-formal and adaptable, such as mindfulness and emotional intelligence. This allows participants to apply these practices in their youth work, ensuring that their personal growth is aligned with their professional responsibilities. - Reducing Winter Blues: By building a supportive community and introducing well-being practices, the project aims to reduce symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) in youth workers by 25%, benefiting not only the participants but also the local youth they work with. - Fostering Peer Support Networks: The project brings together youth workers from different organizations, enabling them to share best practices, form peer-to-peer support groups, and develop partnerships. This collaborative approach ensures that 65% of participants continue to collaborate post-project. - Enhancing Connection to Nature and Seasonality: Through nature-based practices and seasonal reflection, 85% of participants will integrate at least one nature-based activity, such as forest bathing or seasonal journaling, into their youth work within six months of completing the program. - System Development and Outreach: Participants will organize at least 7 follow-up activities (one per each country), reaching 50 additional youth workers and 100 young people in their local communities, ensuring the long-term impact of the project. - Creating the Well-being Toolbox: A practical resource co-created by participants, the toolbox will include step-by-step guides for mindfulness practices, stress management, and group reflections, adaptable for different community contexts. Each partner organization will have access to this resource for ongoing use with youth workers and the youth they serve. The project was developed in response to the need expressed by partner organizations for innovative, dynamic learning experiences that focus on wellbeing and burnout prevention. By directly engaging youth workers in practical training and co-creating resources, E+motion empowers them to develop sustainable practises that they can integrate into their daily work and local communities. This in turn empowers the participating organizations by providing their teams with important skills and knowledge that enable them to better support young people and promote positive change in their networks. In line with the European Youth Work Agenda, the E+motion project promotes personal development, career sustainability and the creation of a supportive, non-competitive environment in which youth workers can flourish. By addressing the real needs of youth workers, the project improves the overall quality of youth work and contributes to its long-term innovation and recognition.
