Objectives

By implementing this project, we aimed to address the critical need for youth workers to enhance their competencies in sustainability, ethical leadership, and social inclusion. The project’s main objective was to equip youth workers with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to guide young people in adopting sustainable practices, promoting social responsibility, and fostering an inclusive environment for marginalized communities. Through these efforts, the project sought to contribute to the long-term development of youth work practices that align with environmental goals and social justice principles. The need for this initiative arose from the growing importance of sustainability and ethical leadership within the youth work field. In many regions, youth workers had not been adequately equipped with the tools to address pressing environmental challenges or to promote inclusive practices that combat social discrimination. This project filled that gap by providing participants with practical methods and strategies to integrate sustainability and ethical practices into their daily work. The project pursued three primary goals: 1. Developing Competencies in Sustainability: Youth workers were trained to incorporate sustainability into their work with young people, encouraging eco-friendly behaviors and environmental responsibility. The project introduced practical tools for implementing sustainable initiatives within their organizations and local communities. 2. Promoting Ethical Leadership: Through workshops focused on ethical decision-making and leadership, youth workers developed the capacity to lead by example and to promote values such as integrity, fairness, and accountability. These competencies enabled them to mentor young people more effectively and to inspire a new generation of ethical leaders. 3. Fostering Social Inclusion: The project empowered youth workers to create inclusive environments that welcomed marginalized groups, including refugees, economically disadvantaged youth, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. This was achieved through training on intercultural dialogue and inclusive practices, which helped participants to break down barriers and to promote unity within their communities. Ultimately, the rationale behind the project was rooted in the need for a more sustainable, ethical, and inclusive approach to youth work. In a rapidly changing world, youth workers needed to adapt and evolve their practices to meet the emerging needs of the communities they serve. This project provided them with the necessary tools and perspectives to do so. By addressing key issues such as environmental sustainability, ethical leadership, and social inclusion, the project created a lasting impact on the participating youth workers, their organizations, and the young people they supported. Furthermore, the project fostered collaboration between organizations across different countries, strengthening cross-border cooperation in youth work and contributing to the European Union’s broader goals of social inclusion and sustainability. By enhancing the competencies of youth workers, we laid the foundation for a ripple effect that will continue to improve the quality and impact of youth work practices in the long term.
