EmpowerHer: Youth Champions for Women’s Safety was created to strengthen young people’s role in promoting gender equality and democratic participation. The project responded to the need for greater youth engagement in discussions around gender-based violence, stereotypes, bullying, and social inequalities affecting young women and girls across Europe. Through international cooperation between Malta, Türkiye, and Spain, the project aimed to empower young people to become active advocates for gender equality in their communities. We wanted to create a safe and structured space where youth could critically explore social challenges, develop advocacy skills, and engage directly with decision-makers. The main objectives of the project were: -To increase young people’s awareness and understanding of different forms of gender-based discrimination and violence. -To strengthen youth competences in civic participation, dialogue, and advocacy. -To facilitate meaningful dialogue between young people and decision-makers. -To promote intercultural understanding and shared European values. -To encourage youth-led initiatives and long-term engagement in democratic processes. By combining non-formal education methods, campaign development, and structured youth–policy dialogue, the project aimed to transform young participants from observers into active contributors to gender equality and democratic life.
