Music Unites 2025 was a youth exchange between the Netherlands, Romania and Curaçao, implemented through two Youth Exchanges, one hosted in the Netherlands in July 2025 and one hosted in Curaçao in October 2025. With this project we wanted to empower young musicians from rural areas and disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Curaçao, Romania and the Netherlands, who experience limited access to opportunities, resources and professional networks, and who face financial, logistical and geographical barriers to collaboration and development. The objectives were to strengthen intercultural exchange through music, while developing concrete creative and digital competences through peer led, hands on learning. Participants aimed to improve lyric writing and songwriting skills, learn to produce music using affordable tools and home studio set ups, work in mixed country groups to collaboratively write and produce songs blending their musical styles, learn low budget music video creation techniques, and improve online promotion skills on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Spotify, including creating visuals for promotion. Across these objectives, the project also aimed to build participants’ confidence and self-sufficiency, and create an international network that supports their longer term artistic development and future collaborations. The participating organisations were Studio15 Talenthouse, a formal partnership between Avedan Welzijn and Kaliber Kunstenschool, Imago Mundi, Radio Romania, including Radio 3Net or Radio Youth, and Fundashon Beti Doran. Across the project, 8 youths from each country participated, supported by 2 youth leaders per country and 1 coordinator. One accompanying person travelled with Dayyan, a young drummer with Down syndrome, to ensure safe and meaningful participation.
