Objectives

This project aimed to set up a youth exchange with a large group of 30 youngsters from the Netherlands and 30 youngsters from Sweden. This exchange constituted an entire package including an advanced planning visit, preparatory sessions in the Netherlands and Sweden, and evaluation. The centre point was 5-days of exchange in which participants were encouraged to: - Discuss, connect and be open about the stresses of their life including mental health, digitalisation, loneliness current affairs like politics, climate and conflict in our world. -Create connections in a world in which contact seems fleeding. - Exchange knowhow and information between local youth work activities in the YMCA of Ypenburg and KFUM Vidablick (and by extension, YMCA Netherlands and KFUM- KFUK Sweden).. It was intended to give the participants themselves, rather than staff or mature group leaders a leading role in this process, by having staff be mostly in charge of establishing contacts, arranging some logistics, providing advice and more general support to the participants. It was also intended that the programme was diverse and interactive for the participants to allow them to get to know each other in different ways. This includes sportive activities, discussions, interactive and non-formal workshops and sharing sessions.
