The Quest for Happiness project was created to address the urgent need for better mental health awareness and wellbeing among young people in Europe. Following the success of our previous project, Road to Happiness (2021), we wanted to go deeper—beyond understanding happiness as a concept—to exploring it as a daily practice and a sustainable state of being. Our main goal was to empower young people with the tools, habits, and understanding necessary to take care of their own mental and emotional wellbeing, and in turn, to share that knowledge within their communities. We aimed to create a safe and creative environment where participants could reflect, connect, and redefine what happiness truly means in today’s complex world. At its core, Quest for Happiness sought to: 🌿 Promote self-care and inner balance. Help participants recognize the importance of self-awareness, mindfulness, and rest as vital components of a healthy and fulfilling life. 💫 Understand and manage stress. Provide young people with practical tools to recognize stress, explore its roots, and transform it into positive motivation rather than burnout. 🌞 Encourage holistic wellbeing. Explore the four pillars of wellbeing — mental, physical, social, and economic — and how balance among them contributes to sustainable happiness. 🌈 Foster healthy habits and lifestyles. Inspire participants to integrate wellbeing practices into their daily routines, including active living, healthy eating, emotional reflection, and creative expression. 🤝 Build community and cross-cultural understanding. Unite 40 participants and youth leaders from eight European countries — Spain, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey, Poland, Lithuania, and Sweden — to learn from each other’s perspectives and create a shared understanding of happiness beyond borders. 🌺 Create long-term impact. Equip participants to act as ambassadors of wellbeing within their own organizations and communities, spreading the lessons learned through workshops, storytelling, and example. The project was not only an exploration of happiness but also a collective healing experience. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Tenerife, participants engaged in reflection circles, creative rituals, storytelling, and movement-based activities that combined mindfulness, art, and connection. Ultimately, we wanted to remind every participant that happiness is not a destination to reach, but a daily practice of awareness, gratitude, and growth — a quest that continues long after the project ends.
