Democracy and inclusive democratic participationTackling geographical remoteness and involving rural areas

Objectives

By implementing the project we wanted to focus on five objectives: Explore horizons in rural areas: Explore opportunities in rural areas by creating activities to demonstrate the benefits and potential of rural living to counteract the trend of youth leaving their hometowns. We had an idea of developing local internships, entrepreneurial ventures and exploration of careers to showcase successful rural initiatives and provide hands-on experience for youth. Expand horizons and encourage return: We wanted to be able to offer programs that facilitate local job placements, business start-up resources, and community development projects, integrating their new skills and knowledge. Preserve cultural heritage: We also wanted to organize workshops and programs focused on documenting and celebrating local cultural heritage, including community events and multimedia projects that highlight and preserve traditional practices. Raise environmental awareness: We wanted to engage youth in environmental and sustainable practices and projects, such as clean-up drives, sustainability workshops, and conservation initiatives that involved the youth in addressing local and global environmental issues. Promote democracy and inclusive participation: To enhance the youth engagement in democratic processes, we wanted to leverage the experiences of Norway and Iceland, who has more established practices of youth poitical inclusion compared to Croatia.
