The project “From Volunteering to Active Participation: Study Visit for Youth Workers, Norway and Germany” was designed to strengthen cooperation between youth organisations in Northern Norway and Berlin, and to enhance the competence of youth workers through cross-border learning. Our main objective was to exchange best practices in youth work related to sustainability, democratic participation, and youth-led structures. We wanted to explore how urban and coastal contexts shape youth engagement differently, and use this exchange to inspire new approaches in our organisations. Specifically, we aimed to: -Support youth workers in developing skills in peer-to-peer education, youth leadership and inclusive practices -Learn from BUNDjugend Berlin’s democratic and youth-led structures and their BildungsAgenten programme, to inspire the establishment of similar youth-led initiatives in Northern Norway -Share knowledge from Vårt Hav’s environmental and coastal work, especially youth engagement in marine litter clean-up, with Berlin partners to broaden their urban sustainability perspective -Strengthen long-term European cooperation, fostering innovation in youth work and building capacity for future Erasmus+ projects
