By taking part in the project “Be part of the nature,” we wanted to achieve an increase in environmental awareness among teenagers and also change their everyday habits to be more environmentally friendly. We aimed for the participants to gain practical knowledge about environmental protection and to be able to apply it in their everyday lives. We also wanted to strengthen their social, intercultural, and language competences, as well as encourage them to take an active role and share the knowledge they had gained within their local communities. The project goals were achieved through the implementation of an international youth exchange based on non-formal education methods, such as workshops, group work, discussions, and team-building activities. Participants took part in activities related to ecology, a healthy lifestyle, slow living, and upcycling, as well as in activities involving direct contact with nature. An important element was also the development of the “Be part of the nature” guide, as well as the organization of an ecological happening for the local community, which made it possible to practically apply the acquired knowledge and foster pro-environmental attitudes.
