Objectives

The main goal of the “Let’s Go Volunteers” project was to motivate young people from rural areas to understand and experience the value of volunteering as a tool for rural development. We wanted to show that volunteering can help communities grow stronger, more connected, and more sustainable, while at the same time help young people gain skills, confidence, and new experiences. Through this youth exchange, we aimed to share and transfer knowledge gained through our K2 project Rural Seeds and to test how our developed Manual for Rural Volunteering could be used in an international context. The project brought together young participants from six countries to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and explore how volunteering can support rural areas and community life. The specific objectives of the project were: • To involve young people from rural areas aged 14–18 and increase their understanding of rural development as part of sustainable growth; • To create a space for young people to exchange inspiring examples and practices related to youth entrepreneurship, rural-urban cooperation, communication, and digital skills; • To give participants the chance to take part in real volunteering actions and learn by doing. During the project in Šibenik, we organized clean up session, building bird houses session and a local activity with students from a local school where participants played educational games and planted flowers together, leaving a small but meaningful mark in the community; • To encourage young people to recognize the value of volunteering and learn how to identify opportunities to volunteer locally, nationally, and internationally; • To develop creative outputs that promote volunteering, such as short videos, posters, and games that can be used by other youth organizations. In total, the group produced 11 short reels for social media, 11 posters, and 10 educational games promoting rural volunteering; • To promote cultural diversity, understanding, and respect among young people from different countries and backgrounds. Through these objectives, we wanted to inspire young people to be more active in their communities and to see how small actions can make a big difference. The project also aimed to strengthen cooperation among partner organizations and show how volunteering can be used as a method for non-formal learning and rural development. By achieving all planned objectives, we built a bridge between theory and practice. Participants not only learned about rural volunteering but also experienced it directly, developed new materials for future use, and became ambassadors of volunteering in their own countries.
