Objectives

The project “Mastering Communication” was designed to respond to the communication challenges faced by young people, which often limit their personal development and professional opportunities. Throughout the project, we focused on supporting young participants in strengthening their communication abilities, as these skills play a key role in building self-confidence and increasing employability. Over a period of 10 months, the project successfully empowered 24 young people by helping them improve their essential interpersonal communication skills. Through a structured learning process and practical activities, participants developed a better understanding of how communication influences their relationships, self-expression, and performance in both personal and professional environments. One of the main objectives achieved during the project was increasing participants’ knowledge of different communication styles. By the end of the 10-month period, all 24 participants had learned about four key communication styles—passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive. In addition, they gained practical knowledge of three essential communication skills: active listening, clear and effective expression, and conflict resolution. These competencies were explored in a way that allowed participants to apply them in everyday life as well as in work-related situations. Another important objective focused on practice and skill development. Throughout the project, participants actively worked on improving their ability to communicate in an assertive and respectful way. They practiced expressing their needs and opinions when interacting with peers, potential employers, and within diverse group settings. This hands-on approach helped them feel more comfortable and confident in real-life communication scenarios. The project also aimed to strengthen participants’ self-confidence in using their newly acquired communication skills. Over the course of the 10 months, participants reported feeling more prepared to present themselves effectively during job interviews and to communicate more clearly and confidently in the workplace. As a result, they improved their chances of entering the job market and adapting to professional environments. All project objectives were closely aligned with the needs identified during the initial survey and focus group discussions. These activities highlighted that many young people struggle with communication and lack confidence in expressing themselves. By addressing these challenges, the project successfully equipped participants with relevant knowledge, practical skills, and positive attitudes. This contributed not only to their personal growth but also to their employability, in line with existing research emphasizing the importance of strong communication skills in today’s job market.
