Objectives

We succeeded in achieving all the originally intended goals of the project. Participation in the project: a) prepared us (the project participants) to engage in the social and civic life of our local communities (it "equipped" us with tools that enable us to take action for the benefit of our local communities), b) turned us into local leaders, unlocking our potential to the benefit of ourselves, other project participants, and the local communities in which we operate on a daily basis. During the project, we gained an understanding of: a) what it means to belong to a local community, b) the role of the individual in the development of that community, c) the opportunities for implementing ambitious initiatives that arise from being part of a local community, d) the personal development benefits of becoming local leaders—individuals who work for their communities and take responsibility for their own lives, the lives of their families, friends, NGOs, and the towns and villages they live in. Participation in the project allowed us to map out new paths, at the end of which lie unlimited opportunities for self-fulfillment in the fields of education, career, personal life, and passions or hobbies. Through our participation in this project, we gained knowledge, experience, and competencies that enabled us to engage in activities for the benefit of our local communities and to have a real impact on how they function and develop. The project introduced us to the “world” of the local communities we are part of, allowing us to become their fully-fledged members. During the youth exchange: we learned what a local community is and how it impacts our everyday lives, we understood the specific nature, challenges, and limitations of the local communities we live in, we gained inspiration and motivation to actively participate in and work for the benefit of our local communities, we came to understand the mechanisms and cause-and-effect relationships that influence the development of our local communities, we learned about the "tools" that enable effective engagement in local community activities, we learned how to plan and implement initiatives for our local communities in practice, we broadened our horizons, stopped being afraid of diversity, and developed the following competencies: a) organizational, b) English communication, c) cooperation with people from other countries.
