Objectives

The main goal of the project is to counteract the phenomenon of hate speech and extremist attitudes among us, the young people involved in this project, our peers and in the local communities from which we come, and to strengthen us in dealing with the negative effects of these phenomena. We intend to achieve this goal by: -increasing knowledge and understanding of the mechanisms of the occurrence of these negative phenomena in local communities and the forms of their manifestation, manifested in particular through the growth of xenophobic attitudes, lack of tolerance for cultural and worldview diversity, extremism of attitudes and behavior towards difference and diversity. -acquiring and developing attitudes and competencies to identify these attitudes, effectively oppose them and level their effects on our quality of life and social interactions, ours and those of our loved ones. -developing among participants attitudes of empathy and openness to others, regardless of views, cultural differences and membership in social groups. -strengthened cultural education of participants, increased cultural literacy to promote equality and social inclusion based on acceptance and understanding. -Development of digital competencies, allowing safe and effective use of IT tools and media without being so vulnerable to the phenomena of cyber-bulling, misinformation and online harassment. The phenomenon of “hate speech,” verbal aggression and radicalization of young people's views is a significant problem that strongly affects us and the youth in our immediate environment. We are constantly exposed to its manifestations in everyday life, both in local communities and in the Internet space. The idea and motivation for this project was born during our casual discussions and through our involvement in previous activities both locally and internationally. During discussions within our groups, local initiatives and while working with partners, we noticed the growing phenomenon of misunderstanding, verbal aggression and baseless hatred, accompanied by the radicalization of xenophobic, exclusionary views and stereotypical evaluation of people from other cultural or worldviews. Based on our own experience and observations, we came to the conclusion that the indicated problem is widespread in our daily life and translates into our attitudes, relationships with others, quality of functioning in society and limits our development and activity. Moreover, this phenomenon permeates many spheres of our lives, from local communities and peer groups to our presence and activities on the Internet, where we are particularly vulnerable to open aggression and unjustified hatred.
