The project pursued five concrete objectives: (1) increase youth workers' competence in esports fundamentals, management, and coaching; (2) foster digital transformation in youth work through a modern e-learning platform; (3) promote ethical awareness including fair play, cyberbullying prevention, and responsible gaming; (4) develop practical event management skills through hands-on tournament experience; and (5) encourage holistic development of young esports players through structured mentorship covering health, nutrition, mental wellness, and career planning. Overall, the project aimed to bridge the digital gap between youth workers and young people by positioning esports as a tool for education, inclusion, and empowerment.
Youth workers across Europe face a growing digital gap: young people are deeply engaged with esports and gaming culture, yet youth workers lack the skills to use esports as an educational and developmental tool. This disconnect limits the relevance and effectiveness of youth programs in the digital age. The project addressed the need for practical training on integrating esports into youth work — covering digital literacy, ethical gaming, event management, coaching, and mentorship. By equipping youth workers with esports competencies, the project aimed to make youth work more relevant, inclusive, and impactful for digitally-native young people. The focus aligned with EU priorities on digital transformation and quality youth work.
