Objectives

The EuroCitizen Project: Mobilizing Youth for Active Citizenship in Europe stems from the growing need to address the lack of civic engagement and understanding of rights and responsibilities among European youth. Currently, many young people are disconnected from democratic and political processes, which poses a threat to social cohesion and the development of inclusive and resilient communities across Europe. This project aims to empower young people to become active and engaged citizens, participating actively in the construction of their communities and Europe as a whole. The primary goal of the project is to raise awareness and educate young people about democratic principles, human rights, social inclusion, and cultural diversity. Through a series of activities such as workshops, debates, and intercultural exchanges, participants will gain a deeper understanding of these topics and develop essential skills to influence social change. The specific objectives of the EuroCitizen Project include: Raising awareness among participants about the importance of democratic participation and human rights, fostering civic responsibility. Equipping young people with practical tools to advocate for and influence political decisions through workshops on advocacy and lobbying. Engaging participants in the creation of the EmpowerEU Youth Charter, a document that will establish clear guidelines for active civic participation in Europe. Strengthening collaboration between local and European organizations by promoting the exchange of best practices and reinforcing youth policies that can impact local and European communities. The project also aims to promote a culture of social responsibility and active engagement within participants' communities. To achieve this, young people will apply the skills they acquire throughout the project to develop initiatives that contribute to the improvement of their local areas. The EuroCitizen Project is fully aligned with the objectives of the Erasmus+ program, promoting lifelong learning and active citizenship, especially among young people with fewer opportunities. Moreover, the project will contribute to strengthening the foundations of democracy and the development of a more just, inclusive, and sustainable Europe, with young people becoming more empowered and committed to the fundamental values of freedom, equality, and solidarity.
