The project aimed to respond to the contemporary challenge of climate change, recognised as a global problem that particularly affects younger generations. As described in the application, young people are showing a growing interest in understanding historical responsibilities, climate solutions and alternative systems, but many still lack a grasp of essential concepts and feel they lack opportunities for practical and meaningful learning outside the traditional school context. The project therefore sought to offer an innovative educational response based on non-formal, practical and participatory learning. The main objective was to promote environmental education among young people and their subsequent social inclusion, placing them at the forefront of socio-environmental change processes and ensuring that young people with fewer opportunities could participate on an equal footing. This focus was in line with the European priority of inclusion, as well as with the environmental priorities of Erasmus+, reinforcing the project's commitment to green practices, youth participation and social justice. In line with the application, we identified several key needs, which the project sought to address: –the need to provide non-formal education opportunities that develop skills that have an impact on young people's lives; –the need to empower, inform and raise awareness among young people about environmental sustainability, promoting greener behaviours in the present and future; –the need to develop personal and group tools that support the active participation of young people in processes of social and environmental change; –the need to bring European young people closer together, enabling them to identify shared challenges and co-construct generalisable solutions. To respond to these needs, specific objectives were defined: - Develop and/or strengthen environmental skills and key competences for lifelong learning by creating educational opportunities based on non-formal methods; - Promote the empowerment, connection and involvement of young people in identifying social and environmental challenges and seeking solutions, taking advantage of European learning opportunities; - Increase the participation of young people with fewer opportunities in high-impact learning experiences, ensuring support and inclusive measures throughout the process. In implementing the project, the aim was to break with passive learning models and offer young people an educational experience based on practice, interaction, experimentation and contact with the community, from the local to the European level. The project also aimed to strengthen the role of young people as agents of change, promoting critical thinking, civic engagement and a sense of responsibility in the face of contemporary climate challenges. In short, the project sought to achieve a simultaneous transformation in young people's individual skills, social participation and environmental awareness, creating the conditions for them to become active protagonists in building a more sustainable and inclusive future.
