Youth entrepreneurship in Leiria and its associated regions faces specific challenges that reflect local socioeconomic and cultural conditions. In Portugal and in the partner countries — Italy, Romania, Hungary, Turkey, and Lithuania — young people frequently encounter obstacles that hinder the development of innovative business initiatives. Although these countries have different economic and cultural contexts, many face similar issues, such as high youth unemployment rates and difficulties in accessing adequate funding and resources. Furthermore, education systems are not always aligned with modern market demands, creating additional barriers for those who wish to become entrepreneurs. The “Empowerpreneur” project emerged from the need to address these specific challenges. In Leiria, as in many other regions, young people often face limitations in terms of resources, education, and business opportunities. A lack of entrepreneurial literacy can restrict young people’s ability to fully explore their potential and start sustainable businesses. The project aimed to overcome these barriers by providing practical training and appropriate resources for the development of innovative enterprises. Moreover, areas outside major urban centers, such as Leiria, face additional challenges related to access to resources and opportunities. These regions may lack the same infrastructure and support available in metropolitan areas, making it even more important to create solutions tailored to their specific needs. Through “Empowerpreneur,” we were able to equip young people with the tools and knowledge needed to overcome these limitations and foster a strong entrepreneurial culture. By collaborating with local and international partners, the project aimed to create a model of entrepreneurship support that could serve as an example for other regions facing similar challenges. This initiative not only improved entrepreneurial literacy but also promoted sustainability and innovation, preparing young people to face market challenges and contribute meaningfully to their communities. This project sought to empower young people from Leiria and the partner regions to create their own business opportunities, promoting economic independence and self-sufficiency. Our goal was to equip participants with essential skills, including innovative business practices, environmental awareness, and problem-solving competences. By bringing together young people from different locations, we fostered an environment of cooperation and idea exchange, enabling them to share resources and creative solutions. The central purpose of this project was to enable young people from Leiria and the participating regions to overcome socioeconomic and environmental obstacles. Through the promotion of entrepreneurship and sustainable practices, we developed key skills, encouraged collaboration among communities, and prepared young people to apply economic models that address both limited opportunities and environmental preservation. In summary, our project aimed not only to promote entrepreneurship but also to create a sustainable future for the communities involved by harnessing the creative potential of local youth. It offered young people the opportunity to share experiences and acquire skills crucial for personal and professional development. Furthermore, by fostering cooperation between regions and empowering youth to address local challenges, we promoted active participation and strengthened a sense of European identity. Through an innovative model adapted to the specific needs of the communities involved, the project aimed to transform challenges into opportunities, promoting young people’s independence and self-sufficiency. By integrating entrepreneurship with sustainable practices, we helped ensure that the new generation is prepared to face the complexity of the modern world in a resilient and creative way. This project was aligned with Erasmus+ values by emphasizing mobility, intercultural learning, and personal development. By creating a space for cooperation and exchange of ideas, Empowerpreneur not only strengthened participants’ individual competences but also reinforced a sense of European identity and collaboration between different regions. With a clear commitment to a sustainable and innovative future, Empowerpreneur represented a significant opportunity to inspire and empower young people to shape a better, more inclusive, and more sustainable future. Thus, the project not only addressed the immediate needs of the communities involved but also established a model for other regions to tackle similar challenges, promoting an engaged and dynamic European youth.
