Objectives

The Erasmus Youth – Connecting Cultures and Future project aimed to respond to the challenges faced by young people in rural areas, who are often deprived of opportunities for personal, social, and professional development. Through European mobility and non-formal education, it sought to create an inclusive and inspiring space for intercultural learning, where young people could develop skills, boost their self-esteem, and better understand their role as European citizens. The main objective was to promote the inclusion and mobility of young people with fewer opportunities, enabling them to gain meaningful experiences of international cooperation, intercultural dialogue, and sharing of good practices. The specific objectives included: - Fostering a sense of belonging to the European Union and recognition of the common values of solidarity, tolerance, and respect for diversity; - Stimulating personal and social skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving; - Promoting the value of rural areas, showing young people that their local context can be a source of innovation and opportunities; - Raising environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable lifestyles, linking personal development to the preservation of the natural environment; - Strengthening cooperation between European organizations, creating a network of entities committed to youth inclusion and non-formal education. By implementing this project, we also aimed to empower young people as agents of change, capable of applying what they have learned in their daily lives and in their communities. We believe that direct contact between different cultures and realities contributes to reducing prejudice, strengthening empathy, and creating a genuine sense of European unity. Through this experience, the entire group of international partners sought to demonstrate that non-formal education is an effective tool for inclusion and cohesion, capable of generating lasting impacts on the personal and professional trajectories of participants and inspiring new dynamics of local development in their rural communities.
