The overall objective of the Movie Nature II project was to promote multicultural learning experiences among young Europeans, using cinema as a non-formal education methodology to address issues related to environmental sustainability, active citizenship, social inclusion, cultural diversity and youth participation. It sought to create an intercultural learning environment in which participants could become familiar with different European realities, reflect on common challenges and develop creative responses to environmental and social issues through collaborative audiovisual creation. The specific objectives included promoting film and media literacy, using cinema as a means of communication, expression and awareness-raising, developing critical thinking, creativity and collaborative working skills, and producing audiovisual works focusing on topics such as climate change, pollution, sustainability, human rights, cultural diversity and the ethical use of artificial intelligence. The project also aimed to strengthen participants’ environmental awareness through direct contact with nature, particularly the Aveiro lagoon area and BioRia, encouraging the adoption of environmentally responsible behaviours and promoting healthy lifestyles. At the same time, it sought to foster knowledge of European citizenship, intercultural dialogue, active participation and a sense of belonging to a European community based on the values of cooperation, solidarity and respect for diversity. Another fundamental objective was to support the participation of young people with fewer opportunities by ensuring the conditions required for their full and meaningful involvement and contributing to the development of personal, social, intercultural, linguistic, digital and technical competences. The project also aimed to give young people a voice by encouraging them to critically analyse current challenges, share different perspectives and use filmmaking to communicate ideas, raise awareness among other young people and encourage more active participation in their communities. In this way, the project sought to strengthen participants’ autonomy, sense of initiative and responsibility, involving them as key actors throughout the entire learning and creative process.
