For the past couple of decades, we’ve seen digital revolution everywhere. Moreover, the pandemic has accelerated digital habits further. This brought positive and negative changes in young people. Fully 95% of teens have access to a smartphone, and 45% say they are online 'almost constantly'. Today’s youngsters increasingly connect with the world around them through their mobile devices. CORDIS EU research on the effect of digital technologies on youth report indicates while digital technologies offer unique opportunities, they can also give rise to online risks and challenges, such as exposure to harmful content or the infringement of privacy. Social media, gaming and other forms of digital communication play a big part on young people’s leisure time. Introducing technology to youth at a young age can have adverse effects on their personal lives, their relationships with others, and their health in the future. It can also lead youth to social isolation and give rise to other serious physical and mental diseases such as obesity, computer vision syndrome, and depression. Following our research and analyzes, we realized with our partners that we have a common need for promoting useful habits for young people to use technological space, not only for fun but also for social and professional development, especially in post-covid youth work. We identify our common need in prevention of young people from negative effects of technology. Thus, this project is developed to empower youth workers who have crucial role in the society with tools and methods that will enable them to integrate technology into learning, by creating the meaningful learning opportunities needed to engage and motivate young people under risk. We set such objectives; to exchange and increase the knowledge, skills and competencies regarding the effect of technology among youngsters between twenty four youth workers from 6 organisations. We are aiming to equip those who are active in youth work, with tools and methods to invert the negative effects of technology into learning curve opportunities for youth, which eventually will have a positive impact on their personal and professional development. Our project consortium prominently focuses on filling this gap and be a proactive solution to this need in youth work.
