Promoting gender equalityCommunity developmentDemocracy and inclusive democratic participation

Objectives

Currently, there is an underrepresentation of women in decision-making spheres, which intensifies in rural contexts, despite the fact that women's participation is essential for sustaining an inclusive and equitable democracy. It is crucial to provide spaces in all contexts, with greater emphasis on rural areas, that foster the personal, cultural, and political development of women, through inclusive initiatives that integrate them from the start. The year 2024 has been a year of important decisions both at the legislative and European levels, and 2025 will be a year of local elections, followed closely by presidential elections, making it crucial to emphasize democratic participation in society, with a special focus on the inclusion of women, to ensure fundamental democratic values. Simultaneously, the European Union, within its 2019-2027 Youth Agenda, has placed an emphasis on promoting values, engagement, and civic participation, aiming to stimulate active citizenship, the development of social and intercultural skills, critical thinking, and media literacy among young women, as well as gender equality, as one of the goals to achieve. With this vision, the project, aligned with Goal 2 "Gender Equality for All" and Goal 9 "Space and Participation for All Youth" of the Youth Strategy, seeks to expand the democratic participation and independence of young women, ensuring dedicated spaces for them in all sectors of society. The project also aims to promote an inclusive society, as outlined in Goal 3 of the Youth Strategy, with a special focus on gender equality. Equity and equality for all can result in more sustainable development, creating solutions for socially just and environmentally responsible communities. All of the aforementioned factors are directly linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as to the priorities of the Erasmus+ program, which we will explore further. Project Concept The concept of this project aims to combat the demotivation and marginalization of young women in rural contexts, strengthening their civic and participatory connection through: - Enabling young women to influence all areas of society and stages of decision-making processes, from setting agendas to implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, using accessible mechanisms and structures that address their specific needs. - Providing relevant, comprehensive, and accessible information created by and for young women, encouraging their active participation. - Stimulating entrepreneurship by enabling the development and implementation of innovative solutions focused on gender equality. - Ensuring that digital spaces for young women are accessible to all, promoting opportunities for active participation and social entrepreneurship through digital tools. Identified Needs: - Addressing the issue of low participation among young women due to demotivation or the perception of a lack of progression opportunities in rural areas. - Promoting participation as a vehicle for the empowerment of young women, with the potential to bring about significant changes and improve the quality of life. - Encouraging the development of leadership, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills among all young people through dynamics and the sharing of best practices, by creating discussions focused on gender equality and the promotion of inclusive societies. - Ensuring sustainable funding, recognition, and development of work with young women to strengthen youth organizations and their role in inclusion, participation, and non-formal education. Project Objectives: - Promote equal opportunities for all young women in rural areas to develop the necessary skills and gain experience to facilitate the transition from education to the labor market. - Use participation as an effective tool for personal development and entrepreneurship through non-formal education practices focused on gender equality. - Create impactful and innovative solutions to maximize the educational, economic, and social potential of youth participation projects, with an emphasis on gender equality. - Empower young women to become critical and responsible consumers and producers of information, promoting gender equality in rural contexts.
