“We frame the change” is a beautiful youth exchange that resulted from the shared effort of 5 partner organisations: Asociatia Culturala Atelierul European de Arta - Romania, Promesas - Spain, Rokiskio jaunimo centras - Lithuania, Stichting Jong Noord - Netherlands and doMani - Italy. There were many times when we got frustrated with an aspect around us: either the pollution from our cities, the lack of respect for the authorities or the way that stray animals are treated in our local communities, anyone can point out a moment where they felt frustrated with some aspect of the place where they live. The main purpose of our organisations is to help young people cultivate a spirit of empathy and a community-driven sense of action. After researching how this attitude can be generated, we came to the conclusion that we need to find a communication channel through which we can express our concerns safely, yet effective enough to attract support for the cause we believe in. We understood rapidly that art is exactly that, a bridge between our wish to take action and the audience we target to help us produce beautiful changes. The whole initiative started from AEA, who reached out to trustworthy European partners, whom we’ve also re-applied after we received 67 points in the February 2024 deadline. Together, we created this 10 month Youth Exchange that will teach young participants how to use art as a modality to encourage active citizenship and generate proactive behaviours in the society. More precisely: The aim of our project is to encourage active citizenship through visual storytelling. 1.Participants will understand better the concept of active citizenship, barriers to participation, and the use of visual storytelling to highlight and address community problems. 2.Participants will acquire skills in using the photovoice method to document community issues and storytelling techniques to effectively communicate and motivate action. 3.Participants will develop a proactive mindset towards improving their community and motivating others to engage in active citizenship through visual storytelling. *These objectives include the 30 young participants of this project and will be addressed throughout the 10 months of this Youth Exchange.*
