Through the project Green Glow: Nurturing Youth Wellbeing through Nature we wanted to respond to a real need that we had observed in our communities. Many young people were spending less and less time outdoors and this was affecting their wellbeing motivation and connection with nature. We wanted to create a meaningful experience that helped them slow down reconnect with themselves and rediscover nature as a source of balance and energy. Our main goal was to encourage young people to consciously spend more time in nature and to understand how this directly influences their physical and mental wellbeing. We did not want to speak only about wellbeing in theory. We wanted participants to experience it in practice through concrete outdoor activities reflection and shared moments. The first objective was to help the 28 participants understand the benefits of nature for their wellbeing and to teach them at least four nature based methods that they could later apply in their daily lives. During the exchange they experienced activities such as Nature Journalists Senses and Yoga Wellbeing in Nature guided sessions and My Life in Nature reflection exercises. These methods allowed them to observe nature more deeply express emotions and reflect on their lifestyle. The second objective was focused on behavior change. We aimed that at least 70 percent of participants would increase the time they spent in nature by at least two hours per week after the mobility. Beyond personal change we wanted them to actively promote this habit among their friends and communities. Through discussions goal setting sessions and follow up planning they were encouraged to transform inspiration into concrete actions. Another important objective was related to environmental awareness. We wanted all 28 participants to increase their knowledge about environmental protection and to learn practical strategies to care for nature. During the hike clean up activities eco discussions and interaction with the local community they developed a stronger sense of responsibility towards the environment. They understood that wellbeing and environmental protection are deeply connected. At community level we aimed to reach at least 500 young people through dissemination activities workshops social media posts and local follow up events. The youth exchange was not designed as an isolated experience. It was meant to be a starting point that generated long term impact in Romania Italy Lithuania and Spain. We also wanted to promote inclusion intercultural dialogue and European values. The group included participants with fewer opportunities and different cultural backgrounds. By living learning and reflecting together they developed empathy communication skills and openness towards diversity. Nature became a common ground that united them beyond language and cultural differences. Overall we wanted this project to become more than a seven day mobility. We wanted it to become a transformative experience that helped young people rethink their relationship with nature rethink their daily routines and take small but meaningful steps towards a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
