Objectives

The core aim of this project is to equip youth workers with the necessary skills, tools, and frameworks to design and implement effective, structured, and impactful learning experiences that foster long-term personal development among young people. Objective 1: Strengthen the capacity of youth workers Goal: Equip 20 youth workers from 10 organizations with the skills and knowledge to intentionally design learning experiences through a 5-day training course. This will directly enhance their ability to create structured, reflective, and impactful local youth development programs. Learning design framework: The introduction of a structured "Learning Design Framework" will provide youth workers with clear steps to create effective learning environments. This framework will be informed by research from neuroscience, self-determination theory, and adult education principles. Application: Youth workers will leave with concrete tools such as the 5E Experience Design Model and the Learning Design Triangle, enabling them to create local programs tailored to the evolving needs of young people. Objective 2: Foster sustainable, long-term behavioral change in young people, beneficiaries of local services provided by the consortium members Goal: Through the training, youth workers will design learning experiences that not only engage youth in the moment but also support sustainable growth, self-efficacy, and adaptability. They will be trained to create learning environments that promote reflection, ownership, and self-directed learning. Behavioral impact: Youth workers will learn to design experiences that help young people build resilience, autonomy, and a growth mindset. Objective 3: Test and refine innovative learning experiences Goal: Prototype and test a minimum of four innovative learning experiences during the training course, which will then be refined for local youth work settings. These prototypes will be based on the newly introduced frameworks and methodologies, ensuring they are ready for real-world application. Innovative methods: Youth workers will be encouraged to incorporate human-centered design principles into their learning activities, ensuring that the experiences are relevant, engaging, and inclusive. By doing so, the learning experiences will be aligned with the actual needs and challenges of the youth they serve. Objective 4: Create a culture of continuous professional development Goal: Promote a culture of lifelong learning within youth work practice by equipping participants with the mindset and skills needed to continuously improve their programs. Professional learning paths: Youth workers will develop personalized professional learning paths during the course, ensuring that their growth extends beyond formal training. Using the 70-20-10 model of development, participants will focus on experiential learning and peer learning to continue developing their skills in real-world contexts. Youthpass certification: Participants will reflect on their personal growth through the Youthpass framework, which recognizes key competencies gained. This certification will not only serve as formal recognition of their development but will also motivate them to continue applying their newfound skills post-training. Objective 5: Ensure the broader impact of the project on organizations Goal: Amplify the impact of the training by ensuring that the learning extends beyond individual participants and benefits the youth organizations as a whole. Change agent role: Participants will be encouraged to act as change agents upon their return to their organizations. They will be tasked with conducting in-house workshops and disseminating their learning, ensuring that their colleagues and the broader community benefit from the skills and methodologies introduced during the training. Organizational integration: The project’s emphasis on structured, intentional learning design will improve the overall quality of youth programs within the partner organizations. The project aligns with key European youth work policies, including the European Youth Strategy 2019-2027, which emphasizes the need for youth workers to adopt more inclusive and forward-thinking practices. The project's focus on innovative, intentional learning design responds directly to the European Youth Work Convention’s call for professionalization and enhancement of youth workers’ capacity to create impactful learning environments. Furthermore, the project draws on the 70-20-10 learning model, highlighting the importance of experiential learning and peer collaboration, which are already intuitive to youth workers but need a more structured framework to enhance their effectiveness. By incorporating this and other models, the project ensures that youth workers will be well-prepared to meet the demands of modern youth work, particularly in addressing challenges such as unemployment, mental health, and social inequality.
