Objectives

"Money Matters: Training youth workers to empower, educate and elevate" is a 10-month Erasmus+ KA153 training course implemented by five European partner organisations: Asociația Educație pentru Viața Reală – AEVR (Romania, coordinator), Active Kosmos (Spain), Coconut Italia (Italy), Fundacja 108 (Poland) and Pangea Association (Turkey). The project aimed to help 25 youth workers improve their capacity to educate themselves and teach young people how to become financially informed, independent and stable. The project pursued four objectives: developing three competences related to financial education for youth workers – decision-making, goal-setting and resources management – with the aim of helping their youth groups make informed financial choices; informing youth workers about the financial fundamentals of saving, investing and borrowing so they could pass this knowledge to the young people they work with; supporting youth workers in increasing the number of financial literacy activities organised locally and internationally; and teaching youth workers how to identify and support financially disadvantaged young people in their communities, helping them feel equally included. The project addressed Youth Goal #8 – Quality Learning, contributed to the horizontal priorities of inclusion and diversity, green practices, digital dimension and participatory approach, and promoted EU values of equality, human dignity, democracy and non-discrimination. It responded to a documented need for financial education in the non-formal sector, confirmed by research from the OECD and validated by 2929 applications received.
