The main objectives of the project were: Empowerment of young people: we wanted to encourage participants to independently design and implement a sustainability-oriented project. Through workshops, peer-to-peer learning, and hands-on activities, they gained the confidence to bring their ideas into practice and share them within the wider community. Education on green entrepreneurship: participants explored basic entrepreneurial approaches, ranging from brand development and product photography to digital marketing and event organization. They learned how to think entrepreneurially while addressing pressing environmental challenges. Strengthening digital competences: in the course of the project, they created digital materials such as posters, flyers, social media content, and an e-book. They also prepared a Facebook event and practiced product photography and editing. This enhanced their digital literacy and showed them how modern tools can be used to support sustainable initiatives. Raising awareness about fast fashion and microplastics: the project responded to urgent environmental issues. Participants researched the consequences of consumer habits, learned about the impact of the textile industry on the environment, and explored alternatives in the circular economy and responsible shopping. Promoting sustainable behavior: participants worked on upcycling clothes they brought themselves or that were provided by the organization. They used natural dyes from invasive and other wild plants, as well as other sustainable materials, and learned sewing, embroidery, and transformation techniques. This gave them a direct experience of how clothes can be given a second life. Fostering creativity, initiative, and cooperation: the project was based on experiential learning, mutual help, and skills exchange. Participants learned from each other, developed new ideas, and co-created the final outcomes together. Awareness-raising in the local community: another important goal was to reach the wider public. In Maribor, participants carried out a street action, distributing leaflets and talking to passers-by about the problems of fast fashion. The highlight was a free clothing swap with a fashion show, where unique upcycled clothing items were presented. The event encouraged the local community to reflect on sustainable consumption. Increasing environmental awareness: we also wanted to show that natural resources around us (such as invasive plants) can be used for creating dyes and new products. This encouraged participants to think innovatively about using nature in a sustainable way. We stayed in the ethnological holistic village of Apače, itself a good practice example, since the accommodation is built entirely from natural materials. Showcasing good practices: we aimed to connect participants with existing examples of sustainability in Slovenia. They visited the Soven factory, where wool is dyed exclusively with natural dyes while preserving traditional textile know-how in a modern, sustainable way. They also visited Ropotarnica, a second-hand shop in Maribor, where young people encounter reuse and social entrepreneurship in practice. These visits showed participants that sustainability is not only an idea, but a reality with positive effects on both the environment and the community. Acceptance of diversity and intercultural dialogue: the project brought together young people from six different countries, with diverse cultural, religious, and social backgrounds. The goal was to foster openness, solidarity, mutual understanding, and acceptance of diversity. By sharing personal stories and experiences, as well as through international evenings, young people built bridges across cultures and developed a strong sense of European belonging. Inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities: an important objective was to create a safe and supportive space for participants with fewer opportunities due to geographical, social, psychological, or economic barriers. This enabled equal participation and access to new learning opportunities for all.
